There are red light cameras all over the city. I have been at an intersection and I have seen the flash go off to photograph cars that did not actually go through the red light. There was a camera at Ontario and Kingsbury (now removed). It is posted no right on red. I saw a car inch forward and the flash went off as soon as the tires hit the thick white line. The car did not make the right turn until the light turned green.

Anybody know of somebody getting a ticket for this?

No, but my 80 year old mother almost did not pass her driver's test because her tires were on the white line when she stopped for the stop sign.

I got photographed backing up back into a left hand turn lane after I got stranded midway into the intersection on North Av and Kedzie/Kimball (whichever has the photo enforcement). But, because the tickets rely on video evidence I never received a ticket in the mail. I imagine the computer system sends out bulk data for every photo taken and because there's a photo of when the vehicle rolls over the line and another of it obviously running the light those "violators" that only trigger the camera once are likely thrown out right away.

They have at least two people reviewing each photo to check for this kind of thing. It's possible of course - there is such a thing as human error but highly unlikely.

Irving Park has a traffic camera at almost every intersection that has a traffic light.
