I'm thinking about checking out some apartments around Diversey Parkway and Sheffield Ave. Is this a safe area? Is it on the border of any bad areas of town? This would be an ideal location for me since it is right next to a brown line station and still close to a lot of bars, restaurants, and shops. Thanks!

It's about as safe as they come in a big city.

Agreed. Definitely an area I would move to if someone magically decided to buy my house...

Is it bordering any bad areas of the city? Just want to make sure. Thanks!

There aren't any bad areas that it borders. It's pretty much smack dab in the middle of Lincoln Park. You'd have to go a few miles west or north to hit a neighborhood that would be worth any concern.

Pretty safe. The nearest bad area is over a mile West.

You'd have to go up about 2 miles north to hit sketchy areas of Uptown, and around 2 miles west to hit areas that get a little sketch on Diversey. I really don't think Diversey is very bad at all until you get west of Kedzie except for the Lanthrop Homes, but I've had multiple friends who lived RIGHT next door to them and never had any issues. Not much happens up there, and they're so isoldated and small.

But anyway, "miles" don't mean much when you're in the heart of Chicago. To the original poster - no, that area doesn't border any bad areas. You'd have to sit through traffic for about 10-15 minutes before you could get yourself into a sketchy area. Even though, it's not like you're going to be scared for your life walking through those areas at a random hour of the day.

That spot gives one of the best safety buffers in the city. Anything more than a mile in Chicago is a good long ways.

Yeah.

But we won't say what that is because people will complain.

Diversey is the dividing line between the Lincoln Park neighborhoods and Lake View neighborhoods. None of the neighborhoods in either are bad.
