Chicago Bicycle Stores
Where can I find a good, reasonably priced bicycle to ride around the city? I want something that's good quality and won't break on me. I'm looking to spend around $400.

A good resource for finding a bike shop in your area and learning more about the kind of bikes they sell, the quality of service they provide, etc., is The Chicago Bike Shop Database.

Well, I got a nice, used, 21 speed Fuji for $75 at -- The Salvation Army Thrift store off Grand. Its a great place for bargains. The bike has yet to break on me.

The Maxwell St Market is also a great place to find a good bike at a great price.
Word to the wise, if you see someone walking as you bike past them and they are eying your bike like it belongs to them, it probably does.

pls don't support people that sell stolen bikes.
"working bikes" is a good place to get a basic, functioning bike for cheap. it supports a good cause. they're on the eastern side of western ave, a few blocks south of i-290.

I bought my bike at Kozy - Kozy's Cyclery . They were great and when I had some problems with my new bike, they got to the bottom of the problems very quickly (and didn't charge me a cent to do so).

I had people much more knowledgeable than me direct me to Village Cycle. I thought they were very professional and did not put any pressure on me to buy whatsoever.
Some advice I was given, buy last years model bike as it takes quite a bit off the price.

thank you guys.
what about cycling in chicago. I mean weather condition point of view. dose it worth buying a bike than riding the bus. It takes me 30 min walking, 30 min by bus to where I am studying.
