It's also worth mentioning that Bucktown has at least one dog-friendly tavern that I'm aware of, the Bucktown Pub.

You're kidding, of course? I didn't know IL health laws allowed any dog in public buildings unless it was a service dog. I don't know if the same rules apply to patio areas outside.

I am not kidding. There was also a joint in Lakeview when I lived there that was dog friendly, but I can't remember the name of it.
I believe as long as they don't serve food, dogs are OK.
Bucktown Pub does ask for dogs to be out by 830 or so.

I believe someone brought a dog into Archie's on Iowa & Rockwell when I was there.

On a visit to Chicago in 2004, we ended up at Jake's Pub in Lakeview and were amazed to see dogs in there. The dog friendly nature of the city of Chicago was one of the things that made us want to live here.

I like the idea of taking my dog to the bar with me, except he's such a total spaz that it would stop being cool after about 2-3 minutes.

Corner Bar is dog friendly too. Last time I was in there someone was having a dog birthday party. I sh*t you not.
