I find the Cops offensive in Chicago. It's also hard to walk down the street without some street person hounding you for a handout.

agree on the second point, disagree strongly on the first. if you think chicago cops are bad, try the patronizing, power-trip cops *anywhere* in the south.

Panhandling has been the same in every larger metro region I've been in, Chicago's certainly not alone in that. BTW, Streetwise vendors are not panhandling.

They\'re not panhandling, they are just into driving you nuts. Like I really care who\'s cardboard box got broken into this week and how Howard on 15th and State lost his bottle of MD 40/40.

You need to get out more and/or hang around different people. As you put it (but in a completely different way) Chicago has something for everyone. No one likes every part of the city or everything that it has to offer but no matter what you like, you can find it here.

And she forgot: Oprah lives there! And they're named after an awfully stinky onion! And it rains occassionally! And sometimes the neighbors play their radio too loudly! And sometimes an Alderman gets pinched for accepting a bribe! And there are always tourists downtown! And enterprising families go and open up taquerias! And you have to feed the meters! And sometimes people cut in front of you at Starbucks! And the garbage smells when it's hot outside! And sometimes a foreigner is behind the counter at 7-11! And these summer block parties screw up traffic! And these kids with their iPods...don't get me started!
I'm sure I'm missing other hideous things about this city that don't exist elsewhere...
