Wow. Part of my post mysteriously disappeared. Anyway, I said that there was a bit of truth to Jane's statement, but I get the feeling that--regardless of where I go--I'll be called a n*****. It's par for the course here. May as well stay.

Wow...
I do not currently live in Chicago but love the city every time I've been there. I do, however, live in Philly and your rant sounded as though you were describing Philly. The thing is...you will encounter many negative things in any city you live...especially a big metro city(ie chicago, NYC, Philly).
I love Chicago...so I had to say something in defense!

Because Chicago creates more pollution than you can imagine, has horrible traffic, is home to cronyism, ect. and the list goes on. There's the Chicago on the lakefront then there is the real chicago. it's easy to be a homer and tout chitown but it has many faults. Hopefully a 2016 Olympic bid will help further convert the city to a more progressive city-wide unified state.

Go away. And never come back. You are serving no useful purpose.

i've lived in long island, NY all my life, and from what the 1st post said, that is basically a description of the NY area. listen, i can't say for sure if what ur sayin is true, cuz i've never resided in chicago, but its very ofen that people resent their hometowns or states. the grass is always greener, just remember. if you live in NY you might really lke it, or someplace else. i think it all has to do with moving to a different place and see how you like it. but in the long run it seems people are never satisfied. i do however think chicago is much better than NY in many ways in terms of affordability, space, etc. but i totally understand your point, growing up in long island, NY, which is just like any chicago suburb u may find, and it can be hard. i hope you find someplace you like. good luck.
