You should have waited until more snow came down. But it is still cool.

Yes, the southside of the building on the northwest corner of Barry and Sheridan.

The people walking their dog was near the lake. They were maybe 10 feet away.

I wanted to see what the waves looked like in a blizzard, but I couldn't see the lake even when i made it to the concrete walkway. Then I realized I could not breathe well or feel my face, and decided my homework assignment for Skilling was complete.

I did - that's why I went out there. Everyone has to do something stupid sometime.

The snowfall figure at O'Hare from Tuesday alone is 13.6

And the storm is not over yet.

Gotta ,love this statement:

"In the Elgin areas, conditions have become so bad the plows have been called in."

You know, it was the damnedest thing I've ever seen... I was out and about from about 1:30 pm to about 7 pm. It hadn't quite started yet at 1:30pm so I thought I'd chance it. By 2:00pm it was coming down in horizontal sheets. I was in Skokie at the time. At about 3:30 I tried taking the Edens home but it was getting kinda slow. I was also pretty hungry so I decided to get off on Touhy to see if some idiot restaurant was open. Sure enough, there was -- bw3. Apparently corporate wouldn't let them close down. By the time I finished up lunch it was about 5pm I dared not get back on the Edens so I decided to take the arterial streets home instead.

It was then that I discovered why the Edens was an unbelievable mess even before there was much snow on the ground: everyone was so afraid of the arterial streets that they were squeezing onto the expressways. Not only did the arterial streets have minimal traffic, but they were quite navigable. The side streets had become a little dicey by then but the arterials were still very usable. I swear to God I have never had an easier time navigating around the city during afternoon rush hour as I did today. It was so easy that I actually decided to run another errand before heading home to hunker down.

I hope this all goes away by the time I fly back from the Philippines on Feb 11. Glad to miss most of winter and the blizzard while vacationing in Manila.
