^^ The Home Alone house is in Winnetka, which is also where Ferris Bueller, the Russell family from Uncle Buck, and the Baker family in Sixteen Candles lived. (Sensing a theme in John Hughes movies?)

The MWC address is fictional. There is no "Jeopardy Lane" in Chicago.

I've heard two theories about "Roseanne," one being that it's set in the SW suburbs and another that it's set somewhere near the Quad Cities. The exterior shots were filmed in Evansville IN which isn't particularly close to either.

Who could forget Family Matters? (Even though of course only a very limited portion was filmed in the city-the series was set here.)

Our own Todd Stroger used the stage name Jaleel White and portrayed Steve Urkel.

Of course other series like this were:

Perfect Strangers
Punky Brewster
Good Times

and the already mentioned Married with Children...

I think "Roseanne" was supposed to be in or near Joliet.

I watch Roseanne quite often. I remember in one show where Darlene was planning to live in Chicago with her boyfriend and she said it was 3 hours ride. I think she said train ride but I am not sure though.

I remember the other one where Roseanne had to take her sister Jackie to the Driver School in Elgin since Jackie was wanting to become a trucker. Jackie told Roseanne that it was about an hour and half drive.

Does that give you any idea of which town that could resemble Lanford?

I always laugh when I watch Christmas Vacation (already mentioned here long ago).
Wonder where they shot those scenes when they cut down their own tree?
I know of no place around here with those kind of hills.

I thought I'd heard Roseanne was set in a town like Rockford.

This sounds like a problem with continuity.

The three hour time to Chicago could easily describe a town near the Mississippi River. But then again, when "3 hours" was stated it easily could have been a figure of speech or purposeful exaggeration.

Elgin easily is an hour and a half drive from an extreme south or southwest suburb like Kankakee or Joliet.

Default Chicago A Film Production Friendly City?

We all know that Chicago filmed The Dark Knight in 2008, but did you know since 2007 there's been a jump in film production across Chicagoland? This may be because of a Illinios film production tax credit that was signed into effect in late 2008. So, here are the movies, shows, and tv series that I know of that have been filmed in these last 2 years. If you have anymore please add to my list. Thx

The Dark Knight(2008)
The Unborn(2009)
Public Enemy(2009)
A Nightmare On Elm Street(2010)
Wanted(2008)
Little Fockers(they just filmed)
Transformers 3(they are filming or about to film)

Tv Series (being filmed right now)
Matador
Pleading Guilty
The Line
Friends with Benefits
A.T.F
Ridealong
SFX Unit
