Yeah I know that, it's just that in the States most people are familiar with the French phrase Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) instead of Tlusty Czwartek (Fat Thursday). I was commenting on why some Americans of Polish descent say "Fat Tuesday" which would be "Tlusty Wtorek" in Polish - a phrase that you wouldn't hear in Poland.

What suburbs have a large polish presence?

Prospect Heights area as well. We have a Polish/English teacher for ESL students and there is a Saturday morning Polish School that rents space (or did recently) from St. Peters in Arlington Heights.
