Hello Folks,

I'm moving to Chicago, will probably find a condo downtown. I'll be covering the Mid-West based out of Chicago. Any conventional wisdom out there as to who has better cell phone coverage? ATT or Verizon? Particularly downtown.

Many Thanks

Trabor

I would go with Verizon or US Cellular. Both use digital cell towers. In certain downtown highrise buildings, I can only get a signal with these two.

ATT uses GSM towers and my experience has been additional dropped calls in the city (plus, much more problematic in rural areas when traveling as the GSM towers are more sparse).

Of course, you must test any cell phone in your particular condo unit as the location of the tower vs the condo can make a big difference. I know folks in high rises who can't get signals at all in particular apartments.
good luck

US Cellular has the best coverage from my experience.

Virgin mobile. Unlimited talk, text, data and messaging for 60 dollars a month, or 40 for all of the above and 1200 minutes if you can function on that. Excellent service, inexpensive and nice phones as well.
