Hi.

I am going to move to Chicago (or suburbs) in next months. I am thinking about Oak Park as place to live for me and family (me, my wife and our little boy). It's close to my future office so that's clear advantage.
Any opinions about this area? I've been there once and the place looked really nice, but I saw it only from my car.

Thanks.

Oak Park is wonderful and the school system is great. The downtown is fun and a bit vibrant and lots of cool housing from which to pick.

Downtown Forest Park, next to Oak Park, is fun also. However, I believe they fall into a different school system (I don't know if that is a concern to you).

Oak Park is wonderful for some people and not for others. You'll have to be a bit more specific about what you're looking for. So far you've mentioned proximity to work.

Other criteria that might be helpful to mention:
1. Your budget for housing (rent/buy?)
2. Need for public schools
3. Level of safety/crime desired.
4. Importance of walkable neighborhood to you.

On the other hand if you if you are moving from a foreign country you will find two things: an area of 10 million people plus you may find the Chicago area is quite expensive comparison to where you live now.
