I'm packing up all my belongings and heading out with $250. What do I need to bring to look into welfare? How soon will I be able to get food stamps and how much will I be able to get? Can you buy beer or cigs with them? Also, how long must I be employed at a job before I am able to get fired and collect unemployment. Any help would be extremely useful!

Is there any reason you can't collect those benefits where you are at now?

We don't need anymore people to pay for.

Hmmm, funny, it looks like bums flee Texas to come here. Then IL loses upstanding taxpaying citizens, many of which relocated to Texas.

Another option is free south to Mexico for a land of better opportunity. Show them what us Americans are made of, make us proud!

Chicago from Dallas? And no job yet? I hope you like 5 months of bitter cold weather, and paying exorbitant prices for rent/mortgage in a place that you don't even get a parking spot. Sorry Chicago, it's a great city, but never drew me as a place to live.
