There are 77 "official" neighborhoods in Chicago, many of which are sub-divided into "unofficial" neighborhoods. So we're talking about 100+ neighborhoods, and it would take too long to break them down into safe versus unsafe. Perhaps you could be a little more specific about what you're looking for?

The ones with the lowest crime rates. What can you tell me about Saugnash?

Again, "the ones with the lowest crime rates" is too general to sort out from between 100+ neighborhoods. Sauganash specifically is practically suburban (in fact it borders the suburb of Lincolnwood) and fairly upscale. It is a small area -- less than a square mile I would guess -- that is part of the official community of Forest Glen. The homes aren't huge but they're very nice, sit on double-lots (or a standard lot by suburban standards), are well maintained, well cared-for, professionally landscaped, et cetera. You'd need some dough to live there -- I would guess that homes start in the 500K range. (According to Trulia.com, the average sale price -- note SALE PRICE, not asking price -- for Forest Glen was $585,000 in the period between April and June 2007.) Crime data going back to November 2005 indicates that there have been no murders or robberies in all of Forest Glen since November 2005. In the same time period, there have been two reported sexual assaults, both non-domestic. To have no robberies in over a year and a half is especially rare in Chicago, even in "nice" neighborhoods. I'd say Sauganash, and Forest Glen in general, is certainly one of the safest neighborhoods in the city.
