The Salerno's in West Town has been there for quite some time.
My family all got food poisoning from the Salerno's in St. Charles one time, except for me. I didn't get many chances to eat there after that, but before then I remember it being one of my favorite pies as a kid.

btw, you guys motivated me to go way out of my way to get a Bacino's deep dish yesterday, so, thanks for that. I wasn't surprised to see that on their literature that Charlie Trotter gives them the nod as best in the City.
Granted, I've never been to Charlie Trotter's and never will, but hey, the guy appears to know his food!

Ugh -- super-greasy and way too salty. Their slices seem New York style to me, which is strange for a place that plays up its Chicago-ness in its decor and market and what-all.

Anyone ever have Pizano's? I do know it is run my one of the Malnati brothers. I would assume the pizza is similar to Malnati's.

I mean, I don't go there for the health factor....I know one piece is probably eating away at my arteries as we speak. Hell, for most of the week I only eat mostly vegetable based food and rarely drink alcohol at all, but I usually cheat with a ridiculously greasy and trans fat-filled food once a week.
As far as the Chicago-ness, I figure they just go another route than the deep dish thing.

I want one of those Indiana fried brains pizzas.
TB, I heard Phil Schmidt's closed down. Where do you go for lake perch now?
