chicago's weather is crap. just admit already people!

every year it's the same BS from people all over the city "hmmm gee wizz, it's unusually cold this year!" people say this literally every year and dont seem to realize that it was "unusually cold" last year, and the year before that, and the year before that etc etc. the truth is april sucks in chicago and the city has no spring season. the weather the OP was experiencing is not unusual and never has been, it's just as crappy as it's ever been- no better, no worse. every april i remember was wet, icy, slushy, grey, with average temps in the 50's and high 40's. 60's degrees is a good day for april in chicago, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Yeap. There are years you get no spring (i.e. it goes from 50 to 80+ never to drop below 70 till fall.), or a short spring, rarely you get a long spring.

Late March can get up to 60/70 but don't expect it to do so every year.

April can be nice or not and is not just bipolar but bipolar and schizophrenic and off it’s med!

May is usually when the wild ride of spring tappers off but it also has a nasty habit of being rainy and it can still be a bumpy ride.

Chicago owes HumboldtParkShiner an apology.

Personally, I love the seasons (or lack thereof) here.

It is, but on the plus side, natural disasters are very rare.

Infrequent tornadoes, and almost nothing like the ones that just ravaged the south.

Theoretical earthquake risk, but not likely to cause any real damage.

Obviously no hurricanes.

This winter was our first blizzard in 40 years.

Infrequent flooding and ice storms are very rare.

I wouldn't describe tornadoes here as "infrequent". Especially on a global scale, as the US is the most tornado prone country in the world. The Midwest in general experiences severe weather quite frequently, it is just not quite as frequent as areas to our west and southwest.

I don't recall any ice or slush, except for that one morning when it snowed.

I've said that's probably the only place I'd move to EVER.
If Chicago where to be destroyed.
