Eeh not the greatest. There are far worse, but Schiller Park being next to O'Hare Airport brings a lot of "characters." I would stay in Rosemont, which is still a bit shady at some of the more budget hotels, but not as bad in my opinion.

The money you save on the hotel just might be eaten up for parking downtown. Good luck.

Some of those hotels will drive you to the El. Of course your looking at probably an 1.5 hours to get downtown.

Schiller park is both safe and boring. Mostly a working class, residential suburb.

Why Schiller Park?
Are you flying into Ohare?

Just my thoughts if your spending money and going to the city
enjoy the city and spend a few extra$$$

Dokken huh! That takes me back a ways
Tooth and Nail-
Don Dokken had one heck of a voice back in the day
they were underrated back then among the other glam hair bands
always liked them-

Schiller Park's Motel 6 is inconveniently located. It's main "attraction" is being near the freight terminals for both the airport and huge rail yard -- I imagine that truckers that are need of a shower or don't want the stench of "lot lizards" lingering in their cab are the main customers.

Rough, noisy, inconvenient.

Agreed. Schiller Park isn't horrible, but Rosemont might be a little more comfortable for an out-of-towner.

Plus, Rosemont has access to the Blue Line, so if you can find a hotel near it, you can skip dealing with parking and cabs, which will save you a ton of money.

Rosemont Blue Line stop: 5801 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018. There are tons of hotels nearby. Just go on GoogleMaps and search "Hotels near 5801 N. River Rd., Rosemont, IL 60018."

Embassy Suites (at 5500 N. River Road) or Doubletree (at 5460) might be more affordable than Hilton, Hyatt, Westin, etc.

But again, if you save yourself money taking the Blue Line (rather than cabs or rental cars), you can afford to spend a bit more on a hotel. You're only staying for 1-2 nights, right? Splurge and stay somewhere nice!

I was looking at Schiller park because I wanted to get as close to downtown Chicago as I could and the Schiller park motel 6 was the closest motel 6...Not flying me and my wife are driving from Minnesota...

Would like to take the train looked up on the CTAs website about fares and routes..Now in Minnesota to take the light rail and bus during non-rush hour its $1.75...for me to get where I need to go in Chicago the website said $10.25 per person so that would be $41.00 there and back now I dont know if that would be cheaper then parking downtown? but that seemed a little pricey to take the train.
