Well I am sure more can be done to control guns. I am also sure there are more than enough stores selling guns. Maybe even one or two shops for the entire metro would work.

There are hundreds of people here who live in the areas that are being discussed, and that is what makes this board a valuable thing. On the other side there are people who have absolutely zero experience with living in the city who for whatever reason feel entitled to pontificate on their delusional fantasies of what Chicago is today. You certainly fall into the second camp. I was in River North on Sunday, I was in River North today. I saw NOTHING that concerned me in any way. Do crimes happen there? Yes. I'm not pretending it is Disneyland, but even with these random events occurring it is very safe in general.
