uhh they don't get them from here... they get them from other states...pretty easy, there was a story a few years ago from somewhere in mississippi thats they were getting thousands of them and bringing them up to chicago. you think these bangers don't have family members elsewhere, who are also bangers? unless there is a nationwide handgun ban, putting a little micro ban doesn't stop anything...

I saw a link to this on another board, the story was in the Tribune, I believe they mentioned Mississippi, Alabama and maybe Indiana.

What we need is to put the FBI on that - it's probably really, really difficult to stop.

yeah there are plenty of bangers in ms/al/ar/memphis/st louis/atlanta and easier to get guns there w/ lots of connections to chicago.

These thugs (who let's be real, will most likely be black male teens given the stories so far) will attack more people...HOWEVER, other Black individuals who are tired of seeing this crap will come to the aid of the next victim....then ALAS! The race card will be no more! That is honestly my dream, and I really do see this happening...Everyone (including many Black folks who are downtown daily) are tired as ***l of this crap! Even though they may not be seen as a target, they are affected by this as well.

Well lets ask your self this... how many times have you been roving about with 15-20 other guys on the street... , not 2-3 guys going out, not any females with you, just 15-20 guys.

Let's see, how many times have I done this in my life time... oh wait, never!

Now why would there be a pack of 15-20 guys roaming around anywhere? Oh wait...they are probably in a gang...duh... that is the whole gang mentality. power in numbers = intimidation, singular people, and even females are generally viewed as weak by them. It is much easier to start trouble if you are in a big pack of people, you have protection if another singular person attacks back, sa the rest will join in, etc etc. it also opens it up to group thought, if the people in the group don't act accordingly, they are seen as weak by the strong members of the group.

Unless they are sitting in baseball uniforms in a dugout, something goes off in my brain that something isn't right here...

bachelor parties, groups of friends going out to a bar, a baseball game, a concert, etc. I socialize in groups of this size regularly. Of course, we're not beating people up and taking their stuff.

I see what you're getting at, but it makes more sense in my mind not to decry the number of guys but to just focus on the actual crimes.

Now if what you're saying is be wary of large groups of guys, that is in general sound advice.

I would just as much avoid a bunch of perceived gang bangers hooping and hollaring on the street by not walking into a crowd of them as I wouldn't walk straight into a crowd of drunk frat guys yelling on the street...I have avoided both. Even 99 times out of 100 nothing happens, there is still a chance you might get some stupid comment from one of them. I also never wear my ipod while walking or jogging around, anytime. I never pull out my laptop, or camera, or iphone on a train either. You can generally see these groups from blocks away if you are observant, then crossing to the other side of the street 3 blocks down doesn't look as awkward. Nor do I walk around downtown looking up at the buildings. If I see a bunch of thugs in an area at the beach, I generally walk on down some. If I see a bunch of motorcycles posted up, I don't walk right through them. If a friend and definitely if it is a girl is coming home late drunk, I will generally take the subway with them, or ride somewhere in the taxi with them first.
Basic moral of the story, be a little street smart and don't be a target... That will cut down the odds a lot.

and outside of the bachelor party, these are generally all guys and no females?
