Default utilities - gas

quick question - how do i know which gas company i use or does it not matter? i believe since i have heat included this includes hot water, but either way, are they comparable w pricing? (i've called nicor and peoples gas). in nyc, you just use one company for the most part so i'm not sure.
i'll be in ravenswood area.
thanks!

I've only used peoples so i'm not sure about the pricing differences. I'm pretty sure the majority uses peoples.

You don't have a choice. In the city it's People's Gas. Nicor is out in the suburbs and rural areas. And if your heat is paid, I'm not sure why it matters. The only gas you'd be paying for is your stove (unless it's electric), in which case you'll be paying about $20 a month -- $15 in fixed costs and $5 for the actual gas consumed for cooking.

Anyone that live in Chicago (606**) zip code, must use Peoples Gas.
