What's the dating scene like in Chicago? (luxury, living)

It seems to me by looking at my friends kids and my son that the average age of marriage is now about thirty. Sure there are some before that and some later but it used to be in my day if you were not married by 25 it was considered odd. That age has advanced now later.

My husband and I was married 9 months after our first date. He moved in a week after that first date and we've been married for 6 years. There is men who want to be married but there is a lot that want to play around. Just watch out.

I'd say Chicago is great for a woman. Most men in Chicago in their 20's and 30's will be marriage/LTR minded at some point in that time, whereas women I've noticed either marry early after college, come to reality a few years later in their late 20's, or they will be single for life. Just my opinion of 5+ years living in Chicago in my 20's.

Honestly, if you're a woman in her 20's in Chicago, just do online dating, you'll find hundreds of men begging for a date with you. You just have to know how to judge character and go out with the decent ones and learn how to avoid the players/cheaters.

As a guy, my perspective is that I may start looking outside the city for women. City girls just aren't in the right mindset for me. They either change their mind too much, they're looking to "find themselves", or they're just too picky due to all the options of men available to them. That's just not my personal preference of the type of women I'm into. As a woman, I'm sure whether its looking for a LTR that leads to marriage or just random hookups/casual dating, you will be able to find it easily in Chicago.

Here's what Cdubs means.

A lot of the girls in the Chicagoland area either marry pretty close to after college or they wait and party for a while then finally settle down and get married.

The reason for the latter is because half of them have high expectations that 98% of the guys in Chicago can't match at the age of 25 or 30 (millionaire, nice car, nice house/condo, etc.). The other half in the non marriage category is because they just want to have a good time or are way focused on a career. Eventually, most of them will settle down and marry. Some don't because they are career focused, haven't met a good dude, or they have met a good dude but believe that dude isn't good enough for them.

If you are a guy who lives in the suburbs, it's quite difficult to get any of the downtown/north side young professional females to go out with you. The suburban girls are more then happy to date, but if you are a young professional, you may be a little let down by suburban girls (or as the above poster said, might like it).

Chicago, mainly focusing on downtown and north side, is both a really easy and really difficult place to date. There are tons of available women. Plenty are willing to go out. But again, they have certain expectations. Plus, you, as a dude, HAVE to play the game. I didn't play the game and it didn't work out for me.

Playing the game is taking the girls to the "scene" restaurants, going to the "scene" bars/clubs, etc. They want to see and be seen in those places. It's a lot of drama and a lot of $40,000 millionaire bs.

98% of men everywhere in the U.S. at any age can't match those expectations.

Yea but the belief is since they live the Sex and the City lifestyle in Chicago that the men can.
