Oh my how times have changes - just news this week the old post office
being redesigned for the new age

The Iconic Wrigley bldg and its named tenant gone onto a different locale

In a way i agree with you but also realize I cant change the force of change itself

yeah... i wish Chicago was still predominantly full of smoke billowing factories and slaughter yards.

take the woe's of the new western world out on the new western world as a whole..not on Chicago. This kind of strays far from the original post and article at hand anyway, no?

So do I, a lot of people made a good living in those places; made enough dough to buy a house, a new car once in awhile and send their kids to college so they could become snotty little jaspers with careful beards, German cars, a taste for "authentic" BBQ and a disdain for the jobs that allowed their parents to educate them.

Those places paid a great deal of money in taxes to the city, more I'd allow than Big 10 themed sports bars and gourmet cupcake shops do. Where's all that money gonna come from now? One guess.

We don't need to be number one on any list to know how awesome or crappy Chicago can be.

Sheesh, wake up man! It's the TWENTY FIRST Century, nothing will ever be the same again, it's a brave new world, change happens - go with it, it's happening EVERYWHERE, not just Chicago.

If you're gonna judge a city's vitality things like declining economic activity must be taken into account.

And just because things are happening doesn't mean they're inevitable nor that I must like them. Of course those who profit by the current course of events are happy to see you think it inevitable and opposition to it quaint.

The economy is changing at a fundamental level. There are new companies replacing the old, it's going to keep happening, the old jobs are gone, retrain or stay unemployed.
