What DID amaze me, was the fact that you dont know how to spell "amazed".
So does anyone have any status updates on the Lakeview-Edgewater crime issue ??? It's been awhile since anyone's commented on this thread.

I just had a quick look and it appears that versus 2011, reported crime has been trending slightly down. At least in the western part of Edgewater where I am, it's been very quiet.

hey all, I just noticed something, I have been going to East Lakeview for lunch lately, and it seems like the neighborhood is turning more Hispanic. At the Melrose Restaurant at Melrose and Broadway, the menu changed to include more Hispanic menu items and also just walking around, I am seeing more Hispanic people than I used to. So Im wondering if the area is slowly changing to be more Hispanic, especially the area between Belmont and Grace and around Broadway to the lake.

I think if it is, it's not in the same way the NW side or Pilsen changed to Hispanic. The median rent/home value is way, way too high to support any changes like that.

Edgewater -- Crime in Chicagoland -- chicagotribune.com

Lake View -- Crime in Chicagoland -- chicagotribune.com

The overall trend is down in both.

Not really. The area has a bunch of ethnic restaurants, and they're all typically overflowing with white people.

yes, but since I've been either living in East lakeview and/or patronizing the businesses and bars, since 1990, I've seen a change in demographics in the past year, was wondering if it is slowly changing,

for sure, not as drastically as the northwest side by Portage park/Belmont Central area. but just different.

I was wondering if it is a possibility with the illegals/immigrants coming to America perhaps they are coming here more, they have to have somewhere to go. and Chicago is a Carholic city, so that would again be another draw, since Hispanics are many times Roman Cartholic.

But why Lake View? They would more than likely end up in typical Mexican neighborhoods (which are much cheaper) versus the very expensive lake view.
