for sure, not as drastically as the northwest side by Portage park/Belmont Central area. but just different.

I was wondering if it is a possibility with the illegals/immigrants coming to America perhaps they are coming here more, they have to have somewhere to go. and Chicago is a Carholic city, so that would again be another draw, since Hispanics are many times Roman Cartholic.
The group of new people that that part of Lakeview primarily attracts are transplants and college grads, not illegal immigrants.

The type of immigrant you're describing typically isn't able to afford Lakeview, however, this doesn't mean there aren't Latinos falling into the transplant and college grad categories who aren't living there. I also know some gay Latinos who live in that area because of Boystown.

Yeah that may be it. I'm just reporting that I have noticed a difference in the past year. I thought it meant the demographics may be changing, but it was most prevalent in the Melrose Restaurant's menu that had not changed since 1990's and here the other day it was featuring many Hispanic type foods. That would give me a hint as to the clientele that would eat there, to be able to provide the food that is loved by a group of people, and yes I know all kinds of people love Hispanic food Could be they were just giving more variety in the menu offerings.

So Im wondering if the area is slowly changing to be more Hispanic, especially the area between Belmont and Grace and around Broadway to the lake.
I've been here (East Lakeview) all along, and I haven't noticed any such changes.

But if what you say is true, it could be a sign that more Hispanics are moving up the socioeconomic ladder? East Lakeview is rather pricey as far as neighborhoods go.

Been here too over a decade. Haven't noticed that trend at all except the neighborhood is more diverse in general.

Hmmm ok…

do you think it is changing in any way? I've seen more women and baby strollers in the neighborhood, seeems like Lincoln Park type of people are expanding north, perhaps because it is more affordable than the area between Diversey and North ave.

It's less of a gay area than it use to be residentially. Business wise Halsted is a bigger entertainment and bar draw than it was 10-15 years ago and the diversity at the bars is up a great deal.

Residentially there's a ton of single women and couples in the boystown and lakeview east area compared to 10-15 years ago, but I think there's more couples sticking around the north side of the city in general that didn't move out to the burbs compared to prior generations.

Overall the neighborhood has been very stable in the 14 years I've been here. Really not much has changed, just subtle things like more diversity, more couples, etc. Not overwhelming though...
