Default need help w/finding apt

In a nutshell, my husbands company is moving from the S.E. side of Chicago to West Monroe St. He currently has a corporate apt. in Indiana and commutes 50 minutes each way. Due to the new location of the office his commute is going to take much longer and he wants to find something closer that is also within walking distance of a train station that will take him to the office. I don't know what train lines run there, but he said the walk is 8 or 10 blocks from the train station to the office. He is looking for a furnished apt (with parking since he already has a car) that is under $1,000 a month. Currently he pays that for a fully furnished and all utilities paid apt in Indiana. The neighborhood can be diverse, it just has to be safe. He works all kinds of crazy hours and may be walking to his apt late at night from the train station. Any help, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

A furnished apartment with parking for under 1000.00 may be a challenge. I realize he is flexible in terms of neighborhood so that will help. You might want to check craigslist and the chicago reader. Those are places where a lot of landlords post.

If he was willing to live way up in Rogers Park or Edgewater in a studio he might be able to do all that. Or if he finds a desperate condo owner in the South Loop. But finding furnished may be hard in that pricerange. How about if he rents a non furnished apt or condo with parking and calls a furniture rental company? That would give him a lot more options as opposed to just looking for furnished units.

There are corporate apts that are furnished and you could try googling "furnished corporate apartments chicago" and other variations (you may have already tried that). However, they often are a bit more expensive and most likely will be out of range.

If he pays $1000 for a furnished in Indiana I'd imagine he will have to pay more here. Not saying its impossible but it might be tough.
