Good point. In modern PC-speak, a community which is 90% Mexican or black is "diverse," while an area which is 90% white is homogeneous, cookie cutter, vanilla, etc. I don't get it either. I consider Little Village no better from a diversity standpoint than Orland Park. If anything, I'd rather live in Orland Park. If you're going to be stuck in a monocultural area, may as well pick the one with better schools and amenities. I don't fault the original poster.

No, Pilsen is not called Guadalajara. So what? The neighborhood is in Chicago. In case you didn't know, it's a Native American word. Mexicans are for the most part Native to the Americas and we have been up and down this continent for the last 14,000 years. What is your point? If you have a problem with the people native to this continent, perhaps you should consider a different continent. Perhaps you should consider going back to where YOUR ancestors came from and find yourself a suitable neighborhood there.

If there were an Olympic Biathlon event called "Revive a Thread That's Been Dormant for Five Years and then Completely Miss the Point," you'd certainly be a gold medal recipient.

Ah well, if nothing else at least we get to go back and get some insight into how much Pilsen had changed in the 7 years since this thread started.
