I live in South Bend Indiana (70 miles out) and we have the South Shore Subway service that goes from the SB airport to downtown Chicago, and we have the Toll Road that will get you there in a little over an hour if you drive 5 over the speed limit (75 MPH). So we have a decent infrastructure due to the reach of my favorite city CHICAGO!!!

I would say that, for a city of its size and economic impact, Chicago has an almost perverted lack of cultural clout. No other city in the world is anywhere near the near-total opposite levels of Chicago's economic might vs cultural impact.

Anyways, it's all suburbia out there and Chicago is but a handful of skyscrapers amidst the massive amount of suburban middle class folk in the midwest. There's arguably nothing to influence.
