And yeah, I've been everywhere east of the Mississippi. I don't like Ohio at all. I've been the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, etc. I think it sucks. Only 2 good things about that state, King's Island and Cedar Point. Go a few states over, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York. Those are places I will continue to visit.

EDIT: The forum substituted a slur I said against myself, lame. Substitute the stars with "Italian" I guess...
Other than the area bounded by Roosevelt/Ashland/Irving Park and the Lake, Illinois really sucks as well. Please expound on the virtues of Illinois vs. Ohio; it's amazing to hear the square/box midwest states put each other down.

Thanks for proving my point, you have to have a car in Chicago. I'm not native to the area, but the most recent posts were about how excellent Chicago's public transportation is to be carless...you do need a car in Chicago.

Public transportation, especially the Red Line, was looked down on. If I mentioned I took and take the L, people would react like it was taking a 3rd world train system...as if it were trashy.

It sounds like you've never left Chicago to do anything else in Illinois. First off, there's all of Cook County that has plenty of landmarks and things to do. There's the Brookfield Zoo, Schaumburg has Legoland and Gameworks and stuff, Arlington Heights has Mitsuwa, There's the various fests across the Chicagoland area throughout the year, mostly during the Summer. There's the Chain 'O Lakes, Six Flags, down in Ottawa we've got Starved Rock and stuff. There's Galena. I could go on.
But I'm a native, this is my home, Chicago. The Second City.
I'm proud of where I cam from and everywhere I've gone, yeah there are places I liked and even loved and some I hated. But at the end of the day none of them are Chicago, none of them are home. That is why Chicago, Chicagoland and Illinois are the best.

I'm sure you take great pride in wherever you come from, and that's great! But you have to think lots of us are from here and we take great pride in it.

Well I mean, c'mon. Whoever says you don't need a car is a complete stoonad. Not unless you wanna be bound to only certain parts of the city or take hours on the bus/Metra to get elsewhere. That sounds like stuff someone's who's not from the area would say, you don't need a car.

Not gonna lie, the Red Line is very scummy in certain parts. Didn't you see that video of those douche bags knocking out that old man on the Red Line?
Point proven, haha.

Umm, lots of people on this forum brag about how you can live carless in Chicago; I did,you can't, it sucks without a car in Chicago. You are very limited in getting anywhere. So, I agree, you need a car in Chicago.

Problem is that incident took place at the Chicago station on the Red Line; this station is promoted as the Mag Mile stop...a key station for tourists to use for access to Michigan Avenue, River North and Rush Street...not cool to see that happening there. Before I saw the video I figured it would be at 79th/Dan Ryan or Wilson.

All states offer something for people to see except Ohio in your case. I found eastern Ohio and southern Ohio along the Ohio River to be very nice and scenic, lots of hills, and the Lake Erie Islands in the summer can't be beat. The Cleveland area to the south and east are awesome...did you check out the National Park in the south suburbs of Cleveland? Probably didn't know about it.

I disagree, I lived here 10 years without a car quite easily. Kids changed that though.

I see you only disagree with me and not Payne222....did you travel from say Lakeview to Oak Lawn on public transportation or Lincoln Park to the Loop? Huge difference...
