My company has asked me to move to Chicago, and I am considering the Lincoln Park area. I have been out to some bars in Wicker Park and had a great time, and met some fun people. How is the overall experience in Lincoln Park? Are there plenty of young 20-somethings, fresh out of college? Is the neighborhood "walkable"? Any specific areas to avoid? First and foremost, I want to feel safe. Secondly, I obviously need to be able to afford housing. Lastly, I need to have access to plenty of trails and parks, and certainly experience a great nightlife as well.

Lincoln Park has a good mix of college aged/post-college/ and other young people (and some young families). It is completely walkable, with a ton of bars and restaurants. It is completely safe. Regarding trails and parks, some lake front parks, and the lakefront trail in walking distance. My only advice is to not get an apartment right by DePaul (Sheffield and Fullerton) unless you want to be around a ton of college kids. |

There aren't too many better places to be a 25 year old single male than Lincoln Park. Like Jessiegirl said, the central part of LP has a more rowdy feel (although not over the top). Areas along Racine and Southport to the West and near Old Town to the East are a little more sedate and 'mature'. Shouldn't have any safety concerns with a minimum of common sense. Only concern with that area might be parking if its relevant to you. If you don't have a dedicated space, you can have some tough times finding street parking in the evening.
