I've been looking at condos for the past month in Rogers Park. I decided to look here because I'm ready
for a change of pace in my life after living in suburbs all my life (Elmwood Park) near west Chicago border. Also the area seems to be a good future investment with all the gut rehabs. I came to the conclusion that this is the best area for me to buy into based on price. I'd love to buy in the Lakeview area but it's out of my price range. Anyway, I've done quite a bit of research, attended several open houses in the East Rogers Park area primarily east of Clark. I've walked around a few different areas during the day and early evenings. I've read as many of the postings on this website about Rogers Park as I can find and I am definitely aware of the widely scattered opinions of the area. If anyone lives close to these areas, I would greatly appreciate some opinions (pros, cons,or comments). Possibly rank them. I'll write a couple of my observations as well. 1.) 1667 Farwell - Like how it's walking distance from Metra, right by library, EL, but Morse in general, eh.. ![]() 2.) 7635 N Greenview - North of Howard = gangs but I noticed considerably less activity on Greenview than it neighboring streets according to chicagocrime.org. Walking Dist to EL 3.) 1344 W Chase Ave - close to Sheridan, lake, more single fam homes 4.) 1630 Columbia - South of Pratt seems to be slightly better neighborhood. I'm guessing more Loyola police patrol as well 5.) 1346 W Estes Ave - This block seems to have unusually high crime. 6.) 1420 Jarvis One 15 year resident I spoke with in the area told me the area as a whole has vastly improved over the past five years. Regardless of where I locate, I plan to take an active part in the community and helping improve the area. Thanks for any feedback! Last edited by DJC11; 09-10-2007 at 10:39 PM. |
