I am a white 45 year old Chicago Fireman. I spent my whole life on the South Side. I grew up in the Ashburn neighborhood and currently live in Mount Greenwood with a great family. Schools on the South Side are far more elite the the North Side. The CPS is not a very great school system so many residence from Mt. Greenwood and Beverly send there kids to Catholic High Schools and on the South Side there is a large varitey with good prices. On the North Side of the City you have a smaller one with larger prices. Also there is nothing like growing up in a tight knit South Side Neighborhood

I think the area bounded by California Ave, Rockwell, 31st and 28th is the worst area in the city.

its funny how people say west loop by united center(TY surlycue) is dicey. I lived there for a good time. However I'd never recommend anyone leasing apartments there... the landlords over there tend to be slumlords.

In few years from now, after my tenure in Charlotte NC I plan on moving back to the south side. I am white and I felt safer there than the crazy north side. Mind you I plan on doing research on areas I'd move to. I lived in south loop and near south side and I loved it. But, it depends if you are native young girl, not knowing your surroundings. move to LP because thats where everyone lives.

Myself- I love the south side and I mind my own business as well others too.
