Default Where to stop between Atlanta & Chicago?

I'm driving up to Chicago from Atlanta and am considering 'splitting up' the trip over two days. What's a good city to stay overnight in between Atlanta and Chicago...?

Anywhere really, its not too far. And actually you can do it in one sitting, like if you leave at 6am you'll arrive at 6pm. Or leave earlier and you'll beat Chicago rush hour(which worse than ATL). But you want to split it up. There are several cities and towns you will pass. Nashville, Louisville, and Indianapolis are the largest so take your pick. If I had to do it in 2 days I'd get pass Louisville and stop somewhere in Indiana, somewhere like Columbus, IN. From there its only 3-4 hrs to go in decent traffic conditions.

Like Eric said, get north of Louisville. I like Scottsburg.

2 days to go 11 hours. Your best stopping point would be somewhere in Kentucky, Louisville would probably do which will then put you 5 hours from Chicago but honestly once you hit Indianapolis, it's a breeze and the three hours is hardly noticeable since you'll hit Lake County (IN) in 2. Your stopping points for gas though would be Nashville and Indianapolis.

I think Louiville is the best stop. At least the food is decent and the whiskey is great.

I always thought you stop through Nasville? Am I wrong? I think it would be the best stop.

If you're into cars, make a quick stop at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY .. they build them there ...
