So I have a better idea: please, please, I beg of you, stop arguing about freaking weather for 38 pages whenever the subject comes up. Please be so kind as to acknowledge that people have different weather preferences and then MOVE ON.
Doesnt stop people from arguing for page after page about Blagoevich, or dividing IL in two, or Cubs vs Sox rivalry, or what neighborhoods are better than the next, or... And yet somehow the same posters (no names mentioned) drag those threads into oblivion and do nothing but create "bickerfests". Yet those threads are somehow ok for some (no names mentioned again) to not acknowledge people have different sports/political/etc preferences? We're all different, there's no need to come on here and tell others what they can or cannot do. If we feel like discussing weather, then so be it. Youve already added your comments to this thread early on, why are you still on here in the first place, just to point fingers?Perhaps you should heed your own words and MOVE ON. Goodnight.

That's because those are usually, you know, like, the actual thread topics. Not to mention the examples you provide are naturally contentious issues (sports rivalries) and/or public policy concerns that should be argued about. Even when those are not specific thread topics, very few threads get steered in those directions and kept there for page after page by the same cabal of people; whereas certain people always manage to steer topics toward combative discussions about weather (a decidedly non-combative topic for 99.7% of the earth's population) and keep them there for pages no matter how tagental or flat-out irrelevent to the original topic. It's old already.

Alright mods, can we please lock this thread (even though it was still relatively on topic) just to appease those who hypocritically create even more posts that are "flat-out irrelevent to the original topic".

This thread needs to be locked. Aside from all the arguements about weather and other things that seem to creep up in almost every thread, the question asked by the OP was very vague and subject to just about every explanation on the face of the Earth. I wish there was a way to get people from asking the same questions over and over.Questions should also be required to be at least somewhat specific otherwise they should be removed.

See the point Im making? What Im trying to say that there is no perfect place to live. Lets look at the cold. Sure we can get brutally cold, but were FAR from the coldest city in the USA. Yes, we can get windy, but were also not the windiest city. Heat? Sure it gets toasty, but our summers are relatively cool compared to most of the country. Rain? Nowhere near as rainy as alot of cities. Clouds? Once again not even close. Chicago is mid-pack, but most of you all are convinced that we have the most ungodly weather on earth. Take it with a grain of salt, the good weather here is more abundant than the bad weather.

The problem is that most people NEVER remember the good, only the bad, and that is natural when it comes to weather.
So I hear that you want cities with better weather than San Diego....Oh KKKKKk...here we go the number (1) city in America as far as weather goes is none other than (Honolulu Hawaii) and here are some other cities with weather as good as San Diego.. Anaheim , Santa Ana , Los Angeles , Long Beach , San Barnardino , Riverside , Santa Monica , Bakersfield CA.

[quote=rgb123;2814592]Working and doing business in California -- yes people are way more laid back, indirect, don't want to offend. In Chicago you state your mind at work, argue, and things get done (usually, haha...something like that). I have noticed I come across as very direct in California while in Chicago I am one of the shy ones.]

see what I mean....this would never happen on the San Francisco board!! lol

personally I dont really mind the bickering, indirect questions etc. its all very interesting, I kind of like the responses people have even if I dont happen to agree or like it.

The only thing I dont like is Steves opinions on weather...haha...but he has a right to them, sometimes, I guess. Since I discovered he is Norwegian (not Swedish, actually) I have found myself much more understanding.

And yes Steve I know you were arguing how much you like the blistering hot summer here better than the cold San Francisco ones ....somehow it all makes sense cause your Norwegian, I am okay with it.

Personally, San Francisco and Chicago are both very close to me and both places I might end up long term ....I appreciate all view points no matter how convoluded, unsolicited, wrong or right....its all helpful somehow, if at least entertaining.

usually in things like this the truth eventually floats to the top.

i probably go up to SF about 2-3 times a week and i know what people mean by sf being "expressive" when it comes to how people feel. for example, come election time, ive never seen a city with so many posters, advertisements, and handouts for candidates.
