Not that it matters but was it a robbery gone wrong ya think? It seems so premeditated to load the bodies into the car, drive them to Calumet City, dump them and then abandon the car. If they broke in to the house and the McClendons put up a fight you'd think they just flee the scene after the confrontation.

"Robbery gone wrong..." now there's a phrase that irritates me. If nobody dies or gets shot is that a "robbery gone right?" And I doubt these two put up a fight -- we're talking about a couple in their mid to late 70s. What we have here is probably a couple of knuckleheads who got a thrill by pulling the trigger.

I just read a Trib article. It seems they were after the car. Its too bad the cops can't catch thugs as easy as you guys find the trolls in this forum.

Default Chatham Community Area of Chicago

Question:

Why were all the murders in Chatham last year east of King Drive?
All insights welcomed.

Is Chatham considered a bad area now? I spent the first 7 years of my life in that neighborhood.....

It's not considered a "bad" area primarily because it's still holding on to its reputation as a stable area, and it still looks pretty decent on the surface. Unfortunately, all indications are that it's destabilizing.

Well put, Drover, and it breaks my heart. The reason I started this thread is that it seems like parts of Chatham east of King are awash in blood, particularly as you get north of 83rd street, but there were no murders (within the official confines of the neighborhood) west of King Drive. Does this mean that the part of the neighborhood between King and the Expressway has maintained a little more of its stability than the area to the east?
