As far as I can tell Chicago has a wider range of ethnic food than just about anywhere in the U.S. except New York, so I'm finding this interesting.

What passes for Cajun food around here is often pretty weak. I'll give you that.

There's a few decent Jewish delis in the loop like Perry's and Eppy's..and then Ashkenaz in the Gold Coast. Then Manny's near UIC.
That's a bummer for those of us who live far enough from the loop that a quick stop would be a bit far to get to.

Maybe I'm completely unaware of such a Jewish deli in my area - after all, there is still a large amount of Jews in my surrounding area as evidenced by all the Synagogues on California and Touhy. I love Manny's, but that's just too far from Andersonville. Jb's on Clark is completely underwhelming.

Yeah, I hear you. I think the ones who live up near where you live are more Hasidic. I don't know if it's changed from the 90s, but they have a different view on things i.e. sometimes they are less educated than other people (drop out of school when they're 16 to work or what not). That could be different nowadays though. There are a lot in NYC who just aren't wealthy enough to own their own shops or want to. I'm probably wrong though

I had a conch soup at a place serving Honduran food:
It's branded as Super Pollo and they also have Mexican food, but my Honduran friend thinks the place is okay, if a little inconsistent:
4614 W Diversey Ave, in a strip mall. Not really visible from the street, so you have to drive into the parking lot - it's on the east half.

I will say the original Heaven on Seven on Wabash in the Loop is better than the other one (or ones, if there's even more ?)

Exactly.. Still no Malaysian food. Also Indonesian food...there used to be a place in Chinatown with both Indon and Malay food, but no longer. I've been to a few Filipino places and they were pretty good, but not my favorite I've ever had from the cuisine.

I also wish there was a place to get Kangaroo in town..? People might find that weird even though it's supposed to taste like really good beef.
