Never seen the northsiders hanging out in Bridgeport.

Don't let your parties go past midnight and if they do, move them inside. Get a group of neighbors together and pick up trash. Cut your lawn once a week. Quickly clean graffiti from your garage and don't leave the outline there. Call police when kids gather on the corner. It'll let 'em know you're watching them. If people would do these little things, which are free, it would make some of these areas 1,000 times better, and maybe then people would consider more neighborhoods in the City as viable alternatives.
This.
We stayed in Brighton Park as long as we could. My parents were in their 60's and the neighborhood was just not safe. I was divorced and couldn't afford to buy the house from my parents. I wish it was worthy of riding it out there, but I would never see it in my lifetime.

That was part of my point. Portland has lots of artsy people. Bridgeport has some artsy people. The North Side as a whole has very few. You're confusing artsy and yuppie. Get your middle class white person stereotypes straight.

There is no neighborhood that's representative of the North Side as a whole, that's just not even remotely possible.

Some randomly selected ones to illustrate this - what one neighborhood would encompass all of these?:

Old Town
Uptown
Albany Park
Oriole Park

Please explain. Either I've miscommunicated or you've misunderstood if I've even come across as remotely negative in this thread, let alone a troll.

If anything I thought the OP was a troll, but there have been good and interesting responses by others despite that.

In one post I referred specifically to LV/LP/WP as reminding me of other upper middle class places. That's hardly a controversial statement.

In another post I referred to stereotypes about middle class white people (I am one, by the way), in response to someone who was using them.

Nowhere did I say anything about the entire North Side being middle class and white. That would be utterly ridiculous.

Yup, one day I was going to throw my Taco Bell bag and my empty 2-liter NiHi bottle out my car window and then chickened out. I finally then realized I didn't have what it takes. It takes a real alpha to live in those tough areas, I agree!

Yes, that would have been "Life on the Wild Side".
