Default Mag mile and streeterville

Can anyone tell me if the streeterville area is nice? I want to stay along the mag mile and this paticular area seems to be the best place to stay for the price.

Streeterville is fine. I would (and have) walked around Streeterville at all hours of the night. Still worth keeping an awareness of your surroundings, but still, one of the least troublesome areas of the city. About 6 blocks west is another story though.

Wouldn't six blocks west of Sreeterville put you about River North? Or am I confusing neighborhoods again?

I guess it depends on a couple of things: a) how far north/west in Streeterville you are, and b) whether you go by numbered blocks or "actual" blocks (there are typically two "actual" blocks per numbered block). Plus, part of the problem is that River North and Streeterville are not "officially" defined areas so everyone has different opinions about where one stops and the other starts, and for that matter, how the Gold Coast works into the equation. But at any rate, just west of that general area is the Cabrini-Green neighborhood. And prior to popular belief to the contrary, not all of Cabrini-Green was/is being demolished. The rowhouses are still there and there are no plans to touch them. And that area is still pretty, uh, "active" shall we say. So, to simplify, I'll simply say "stay east of Franklin, especially after hours."

yea, I work in that area. fine in the day, wouldnt want to wander around at night. but theres really only 2 choices in regards to cabrini: its either the northern end of River North, or the southern end of the Gold Coast. neither neighborhood really fits cabrini, since River North is defined by lofts and old industrial areas, and the Gold Coast is an old luxury area. Cabrini is just plain low income residential. Im sure once developers get their hands on it and start erecting nueveo-rich condos they'll think up of something clever to call it

They're already calling it Goose Island.

How is that even possible. If theres one area neighborhood whose boundaries arent debateable, I would tend to think its Goose Island . Either you're on the island. Or you're not.

Well it's next to the island, and I guess that's close enough.
