I certainly love that they opened, but the greatest event? Far from it.

The only thing that would be more exciting is the granting of a zoning variance to Chick Fila in the 1st Ward.

Looks as nice as you could probably hope for on the outside.

It doesn't seem like a big deal to me since there are already several Targets in the city. This appears to just be a smaller version or something. If I wanted to go to Target, I'd just go to one of the several full-sized Targets we already have, unless I happened to live really close to the small one.

Between the Depaul and Columbia students and the surrounding condo dwellers, not to mention all of the downtown workers, that Target will be lucky if it stays well stocked on a regular basis. The South Loop target has been hit and miss for certain items lately, so hopefully the City Target will help alleviate that.

I'm more excited for the West Loop Target to open personally.

call me a dinosaur; i thought state street was great when it had "marshall field" and "carson pirie scott" logos proudly on display.

I was at the Target today and it was nice. I think they will do well considering most stores in the loop are close after 8. There are still shoppers in the loop who walk around downtown after businesses close. Just look at Walgreens at state and lake they are busy all the time.

Its useless to me. I will occasionally use the walmart express (or whatever its called) in the West loop after work. So I can understand the appeal for people that walk right by it, or live within walking distance and dont have a car or dont want to get in it. That building was desined for retail space, and given that most big box stores arent doing too well, viola.
