Default Not exactly uniformly great news...

Be careful Chet; pretty soon they'll find a way to tax you just for posting conservative ideas. In the Madiganistan province of Rhamistan, only liberal, Democratic ideas and laws are allowed.

Honestly, I am glad that these firms are at least staying in Illinois. The greater risk is that hostile business climate drives firms out of state, that makes all the tax burden on those left behind all the worse.

It is my sincere hope that Chicago really does make more efforts to not just showcase the ability of the city and state to entice firms to move into vacant office space with big tax cuts but that there are legitimate efforts to make things more attractive without any give aways. If the long term problems of the region are not addressed in a meaningful way the short term advantages of either tax give aways or lower initial housing costs will fade in the face of skyrocketing long term costs...

Classic chet is right.

The shift to contractor work is a macro issue that could affect anyone in the US. It's not relevant to an article showing employers continue to believe in the importance of locating within the city of Chicago.

As to the condo market, the consumer deleveraging process is well on its way (household debt is back to 2002 levels), and the housing market is finally beginning to recover. Young workers should be looking for a condo now, as the rent/buy decision is swinging firmly into 'buy' territory. Get out from under the clouds old man!

Exactly, the contractor vs. employee situation is a national and even global issue, not particularly relevant to the story.
