Default Young guy looking to move to Chicago

Hello well to start off I'm from St. Louis and grew up here all my life, I've always been fascinated by Chicago and know several people from there but never been. I'm 21 years old with my associates degree in Applied Science (Computer Networking). I also have a few certifications to go along with it and about 4 years of experience now. Even though there are some IT positions available here there still doesn't seem to no where near as many as Chicago offers. Even given the size of Chicago it still seems to have many more open positions than other comparable cities (New York).

To get to the point I was wondering where would be the best place to move to in Chicago that isn't overly expensive and is young adult friendly I guess would be the word. Also if any on here from Chicago that works in the IT field or knows anything about IT jobs in Chicago have any suggestions on where I could begin looking for IT related jobs (wink wink)that would be a great help! Thanks a lot in advance

I can't be much help as I don't live in Chicago... yet. I am researching to move up there as you are. I have found that the North side of Chicago seems to be more appealing. Neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Laveview, Wicker Park/Bucktown, and... Ukranian Village have all been suggested to me. Craigslist seems to be the best way to find great apartments for rent. You can map an apartment on Google, then click "street view" and literally have a view of the street and move up and down the street while looking around. It is really neat! You can see how far to cleaners, banks, bars, markets and so on. Maybe with this bump you will get more opinions... This is just what I have found after researching a few weeks, and from helpful people on here... Good luck!

St. Louis Career Academy...it was a Public Charter school open to both city and county students. Basically like North and South Tech High Schools if you know of those two schools. I'm from the North County area but lived in pretty much every area of STL.
