it's been a while but it's good for the city to do another beef showdown.

Who has or had the best Italian Beef in Chicago
?

Please tell us your favorite spots of all time.

in a couple of years but Johnnie's (for my #1) on North Ave in Elmwood Park (not Chicago). Portillo's is not a bad 2nd place.

I had heard that Johnnie's was sold and not as good as it used to be but...like I said I have not been there in awhile.

#1. Al's Italian beef
#2. Buona Beef - although truth be told, I don't think there are any locations in Chicago

Scatchell's was profiled on the Food Network show "$24 in 24" last week and looked mighty tasty. Anyone here tried them? Thumbs up or thumbs down?

Don't know Scatchell's but I hope some people on the forum will let us know.

My sentiments exactly. Johnnie's #1, Portillo's #2.

Johnnie's was sold but I think it's the same recipe.

I actually don't love that sandwich anywhere else except those two places.
