Home Run Inn is f*ggin' awful.

Another thing the OP should do if he's here for an extended stay is check out Oak Park (Frank Lloyd Wright too-- btw, he also is famous in Australia) and Evanston, because it it Evanston. Both are easy to get to via CTA train.

Seriously. DO NOT DO HOME RUN. I hate that pizza. I actually rather have Little Ceasar's than Home Run, and that is saying A LOT!

The must do things in Chicago are:

-Check out the loop.
-Check out Hancock or Sears Tower.
-Go to Navy Pier just to experience it.
-Have some Portillos and deep dish pizza
-Check out some of the suburbs as well.

Home Run used to be decent and I use the term decent losely but now they are horrible. Stick to Ginos or Giordanos.

I would say check out neighborhoods before you venture to the suburbs. While a couple suburbs are very nice Chicago suburbs are nothing special.

IMO that's slop aimed at tourists and rubes. Giordanos had a joint on the East Side years ago, I got sick as a dog from there in 1979, we were building a blast furnace in the mills and sent out there for lunch. Should'a stuck with the Golden Shell. The last time I had Gino's was about three years ago and it was a cheesy, greasy mess, I threw most of it away. But if you like it you like it, it's absurd for me to say you don't.

IMO the best deep dish is now Malnati's and Ricobene's. I haven't had Uno's in so long I'm not fit to judge. Some claim Pequods is good but I never had it.

I have a soft spot for the Home Run Inn, when I was a kid my Dad would drive over there and get a pizza, this when the place was just a tavern making pizzas on the side. And in the 70s and 80s we boilermakers took long lunches there when we worked at Crawford Station; I did lots of drinking and pizza eating there.

Speaking of which Connie's on Archer is pretty good.
