Keep in mind too -- that is recorded at Midway -- we have recordings from Ohare and other places too....not to mention there can be pretty big differences at any given day or time between the north and south suburbs...

LOL
That was taken in DeKalb County, about as flat (in most areas) as it comes. Thats why you head another hour NW on this road:
...and end up here (Galena):
Sure its not Vail, but it beats nothing I guess.

I really don't want to argue....and I didn't mean to be condescending about different locations -- you apparently edited your post after I posted about the different locations, I did not realize you were trying to argue a point, thought you were just talking about average temps...anyway, here....this is from lake villa, and a longer time span -- none of the dec-feb are above freezing even for a high. I dunno about you but I've been around for a lot of these winters and find this a bit easier to believe - its not just a perception, and yes I live closer to lake villa than midway and it is well known there really can be quite a difference between the two....ask mr. skilling.
-- and this comes from the midwest regional climate center -- I got to the website from the noaa website.

Lake Villa? The city being discussed is Chicago. Should we use info from Albany instead of NYC? Yes, go north and away from Lake Michigan and it gets a lot colder, get away from the Atlantic on the East Coast and it gets colder as well. I was going to suggest posting the Lake Villa data in the Suburban Chicago forum, but even calling Lake Villa a suburb is pushing it.

Atrill -- he asked me to try any of the stations in the area and they would not vary much at all, I didn't even check chicago, but I bet for the period of 1971 - 2000 it would be about the same -- his was 1980 - 2000.
Lake Villa is approximatley 40-45 miles to the north, we are talking about weather, not restaraunts, give me a break. Midway is not exactly the city center, same with ohare.
