it's a stepping stone for me too. I hope to leave within a year though. I'm looking for jobs in Chicago even now. I doubt they'd hire anyone from so far away, but I want out of Tampa bad enough that I'll look regardless. You're right it does sound better and better each day. I'm a bit anxious to go. maybe too anxious. But my mother has told me " if I were you I run out of here and leave today."
So I understand where you're coming from. It might be worse for you, you have a child and Fiancée.

^^^ Out of curiosity, why do you want to leave Tampa so badly? I only visited there a few times, but it seemed like a nice enough place (I used to live in Daytona for like 3 years...snoozefest, LOL. Nice beach, but dull).

SUVs are licensed as passenger vehicles rather than trucks, so they can be parked on the street like any other vehicle, subject to the same (numerous) restrictions as all other passenger vehicles, of course. The only difference is that many (maybe even most) SUVs are charged an additional $15 per year for the city sticker, for a total of $90. It's a real sloppy formula they use: any current model year with a GVR of over 4,500lbs makes EVERY YEAR of that model subject to the surcharge, even if your SUV is 15 years old and weighs 700 pounds less than its current model year.
Interesting words you say. Hmmm, any benefits to having a truck aka Chevy Silverado Z71 package?

Other than the personal benefits that accrue from having a truck (perhaps you haul a lot of stuff), no, I don't see any benefit to it. You won't be allowed to park it on the street, you won't be allowed to drive it on certain streets, and a lot of garages in Chicago are old and small and you may have some difficulty fitting a full-sized pickup into a garage space.

hehe, I figured that was the case. I was just curious since we began talking about cars.

Ya know, I think it's funny how people get all excited about getting their SUVs and such because of the weather. Then, you see their 4 wheel drive SUV on the side of the road because bottom line- they just don't know how to drive in the snow and cold. Even 4 wheel can't save people from stupid driving. Trust me, I've seen it many times.

Sorry, back to the program...

Well...lets see. One reason would be is the heat. I love my four season. The other is its a case of been there done that sort of.

When I was 18, no 19 my father packed us up and moved us here from NY. By 23 I went back to NY and after six years because of a job I moved to California, which wasn't for me. It beautiful but I don't fit in there at all. I've gone off track, back to Florida. When I can here the first time, everything just went wrong. My father died 2 years later after we'd moved here. The first time. My father had a good life ins policy, but the state took most of that. My sister began to steal money from my mother for her boyfriend at the time.

It's silly, I know it's not really the state, but I just don't feel at home here. Too many bad things had happened, and this time when I came back,
my sister went wacko, she picked up and left her two kids and husband and just left them. So it's stuff like that that makes me not want to be here it bring back some bad memories.

I could go on and on about the bad that's happened but i'd be here all day.

We should have never let NY from the beginning. I know that know and my mother wishes we hadn't too.

Default Steve-o

He died when I was 21. 2 years after we moved us there when I was 19.
Is that better?
I know it must seem confusing. That was the first time I was moved here.
This would be the second time now as I write this.

husky - my sympathy, and I know how events can definiltey cloud one's vision of a place. Sometimes it is not worth it to stay in that kind of place. No, it has nothing to do with the city itself, but in your mind you will -- at least for a long time relate bad things to that area.

Thank you. It's has been 12 years almost 13 since the death of my father, but like you said some do relate to bad things for along time. But it isn't too bad, I also don't like the heat as well. And I believe that I have more in common with individuals up to the north of the country. Colder places of living. Doesn't matter if they're midwest, northeast. We, even women, know what its like to have to shovel snow, freeze our buts off, etc. I believe, and it may be just me, we're different than our tropic counterparts. Again it could be just my perspective. I like to visit Florida, but not to live.
