While I love to believe my kids are smart enough to get in to a gifted program, it's a bit of a gamble for families that haven't had the child test in yet, or who have another child or two in waiting behind the first. One thing I've realized in my years of parenting is that multiple school drop off points are a real hassle.
240 seats in the gifted program at Bell. The school has 950 or so total enrollment. The school is open enrollment to people in the area. The gifted program is not of course.

Try hotpads.com to do a search for apartments. You should be able to look at boundaries of specific schools in each area. Alcott, Nettlehorst, Lincoln, Coonley, Bell, Burley, Blaine are all close to public transport in great neighborhoods and are great schools. I'm partial to Alcott but any of those would be great schools.

Not a dump but it's on a busy street. And I am not sure about the schools - it's a little far north to be in one of the really good catchment areas.
