^^ Kimball and Belmont, rather.

I can't understand why people act as if CTA buses are even remotely comparable to the El. Other than a few express buses, they pretty much blow goats. Perhaps the proposed BRT will change that, but as it stands they're mostly a joke.

It really depends on the route. When I lived in UV the 66 Chicago bus definitely blew goats all day long. But I could always walk for another 5 minutes and catch the Grand Ave. bus, which was great. The same is true for me now living in Logan Square - using the Armitage bus to get East sucks, but using the California bus to get North or South is fine.

3) "Leading" or not, certain types of dining and nightlife institutions are indicators of which direction a neighborhood is heading.

4) Only someone who has never been to these places could say with a straight face that they aren't "beyond what a single guy stuffs into his mouth." Many of them are places where singles, couples, men, women gather not just to eat but to socialize with each other.

Is Kuma's driving anything? Maybe not by itself. I take it back, you can't be a carpetbagger as you don't actually even have a bag full of stuff you're peddling, you just like to hear yourself talk.

As for Belmont/Kimball, put down the pipe there, Crackula. Just because the happening action isn't geared towards the latest $15 burger with a weird ingredient on it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
NEIU is building a giant new campus just NW of the intersection. Rev Brew's facility is driving way more energy than a simple restaurant is as it is production, a 15 tap bar and an event venue. Joong Boo is packed to the gills on a regular basis, and even that infrastructure-challenged no-tap beer Crown Tap is generally packed. Then you've got Elastic Arts which has been doing programming for over a decade on Milwaukee north of Diversey. I won't bother addressing elementary and high school issues as you're a one trick pony as far as understanding Chicago's neighborhood landscape.

Point being, your pretentious fanning-the-flames-of-gentrification crap isn't welcome here. And I'm not joking. This is you needing to make things about you, whereas me and most of my neighbors are actually seriously concerned with the property tax issue, zoning, etc. Make up some cutsey-poo nicknames for junk where you live, and actually do something positive about the ever-encroaching army of gangbangers you believe is raining down in your neighborhood.

I like buses, but they are in general more prone to disruption due to traffic jams, accidents, etc. The L is magnitudes of order more dependable (that said, the "rubbish fire" that emptied the Blue Line yesterday was indeed a goat-bower of a way to start the morning!)

During rush hour, yeah, you can manage.

Late at night, 24 hour service? No comparison.

Speaking of the cool and eclectic businesses in Avondale, I'll bet you truly authentic Chicagoans can't wait for this little gem to open:

Olive Garden Coming to Chicago: Avondale Restaurant to Be First In City - Avondale - DNAinfo.com Chicago

You will beg for that $15 hamburger with weird ingredients if this type of development spreads through the neighborhood. But you probably have nothing to worry about, since I expect this to be a relatively short-lived experiment in poorly-located QSRs.

I guess the folks who use that lot as a commuter lot will have to find some place else to park.

BINGO

The secret is out about Logan Square and the hipsters are just pushing farther down the Blue Line.
