I looked on craigslist & backpage, and it seems that edgewarer apartments are cheaper than those in lincoln park. Form 700-1000 in backwater, more like 1-2k in lincoln park. I am wondering what the average rate is, and is there any more information you might find useful for me?

You nailed it. Average rates are going to depend on how many bedrooms you want, which part of the neighborhood you want to live in, etc.

Lincoln Park is just a much more upscale neighborhood.

Yes, exactly. They are not comparable at least in demand. Edgewater is further from downtown, not as many "trendy" restaurants, etc etc. Edgewater is a great deal as far as I'm concerned.
