Hi everyone. Does anybody know of any high or mid-rise apartment buildings in the loop that will accept large dogs, we can't find any in our price range. We have a 100 lb. lab and our price range is around $1400/ mo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

Well... highrises are really not dog-friendly by nature. Can you really picture yourself getting up at 2am to take your lab down 50 stories in an elevator so that he can 'go to the bathroom' in the middle of the city?

Someone in the loop has to have a big dog, I know we wouldn't be the only ones. 1212 Michigan Ave. allows big dogs, and they are on our list, we were just hoping to have a few more options. I guess for sale by owner apartments would be our best bet.

Have you checked out craiglist? I just looked and there were a few....

I'm not sure if you're married to the idea of the loop, but if not I'd look into the West Town area, where most places are walk-ups, and from what I've seen are often much more dog-friendly than the loop. hell, walk around Wicker Park on a Saturday and nearly everyone you pass will have a dog- many of them of the big and lovable persuasion.

I do not know of anyone who has a dog here in the Loop. Maybe there are, but the question never actually occurred to me until you brought it up. I just can't think of a single incidence of ever actually seeing one.

Anywhere around the dog parks are usually very dog friendly, as are more walk-ups. On craiglist, I saw that in the South Loop there were a bunch of dog friendly places and they are within walking distance to Grant Park.
Challenger Playlot Park -1100 W. Irving Park Rd Chicago Churchill Field Park Dog Park -1825 N. Damen Ave. Chicago Coliseum Park Dog Park -1466 S. Wabash Ave. Chicago Grant Park Bark Park -9th and Columbus Chicago Hamlin Park Dog Park -3035 N. Hoyne Ave. Chicago Margate Park Dog Park -4921 N. Marine Drive Chicago Noethling (Grace) Park Dog Park -2645 N. Sheffield Ave. Chicago River Park Dog Park -5100 N. Francisco Ave Chicago Walsh Park Dog Park -1722 N. Ashland Ave. Chicago Wicker Park Dog Park -1425 N. Damen Ave. Chicago I lived in West Lakeview with my dog. I could walk to the dog park, found a coachhouse with a small yard, and could even go to Scooters Custard where they gave out free dog cones :-) If you are set on the loop, I'm sure you can find something. If you aren't set on it, I would check out the above areas! (Also, try some of the search services....they can help) |

I have seen lots of big dogs in 1212 I have even seen a Great Dane there. I can't believe how many dogs are in that area but then again it is right across from Grant park too. My Son lives in that building and it is a nice area as far as everything you should need and in walking distance too. The building and management isn't too bad either.
