Harrier hasn't been inside the Chicago city limits, but he has been in "Chicagoland".

Harrier isn't "speaking about Chicago", he is only asking questions.

So far only you have provided any good answers.

Apparently you are offended by Harrier omitting Chicago from his list of 5 world class U.S. cities but including Las Vegas.

That is your problem.

At least you admit you've never been to the city. But again, when someone puts Vegas and even Miami above it...people will get defense. And really, outside of entertainment/gambling, neither of these cities even close to holds a candle to Chicago on anything else that would be considered world class. Miam is above Vegas IMO too by a bit.

Miami is an international center, a major gateway to Latin America, and arguably the de facto capital of the Caribbean region.

It is also home to the current NBA champions.

Chicago is a rail crossroads and the capital of the Great Lakes region.

Miami wins.
See, you don't know what you're talking about. The rail crossroads? Chicago has the 3rd largest GDP of any MSA in the country, the 2nd largest financial industry in the US after NYC, the 3rd most fortune 500 HQ in the US after NYC and San Fran (San Fran only ahead by 2). Also food/manufacturing hub. Chicago also has some of the top museums in the entire country such as the Art Institute (which is also the 2nd largest art museum in the US after The Met in NYC). You need to learn more.

Real GDP Per Capita (2011)
Chicago MSA: $50,131
Las Vegas MSA: $41,118
Miami MSA: $40,804

Overall GDP (2011)
Chicago MSA: $476.487 Billion
Las Vegas MSA: $364.96 Billion
Miami MSA: $231.361 Billion

All that is great and Chicago should be rightfully proud.

What is Chicago the international center of - what makes it #1?

Los Angeles? Movies.

New York? Finance and business.

Washington? Capitol of a major world player.

Vienna? Music.

Paris? Art.

London? Theatre.

See what Harrier is getting at?

There should only be a few cites that can call themselves world class.

Harrier could try to connect the world class discussion back with the original topic of this thread - but that wouldn't be very accurate - or nice.

You don't need to be THE leader of **** to be a world class city. You need to be A leader. There's a difference.

No, I don't. You seem to have a very surface understanding of the terms you use. I said it once, I'll say it one last time: You lack the requisite understanding to be worth discussing this subject with
