I have been living in my current apt for a little over a month, and my landlord never told me when I signed my lease that my building was for sale (silly on my part, I should have researched). There is an added clause on my lease that says: Lessor can terminate lease with written 60-day notice. He did not point this out to me, nor have me initial it. I found a letter "taped" to my door (not sent certified) last week that states we have 2 months to vacate our apartment. Does anyone know if this added clause in my lease is legal?

he doesn't have to have you initial individual sections in the agreement.

if you signed the lease with that clause then that means you agreed to it, and he has the right to do what he said on there.

did he tell you why you have to leave? Wouldn't the new building owner want tenants?

Unfortunately for the OP, these are correct.

Maybe a condo conversion or gut renovation to get more rent?

From what I gathered from my landlord, who kept lying to me and saying he'd only sell the place to owners who would honor our year lease, the new owners want to gut the apt. But it's weird that I didn't get any sort of correspondence from the new owners?

f-ck it, move out, then leave a jar full of roaches, cheese, fruit, vegetables, and meat hidden in floorboards, crawlspaces, porch/staircases.

I would also say leave mice/rats, but that's animal cruelty to cute animals.

Definitely legal, and standard when buildings are for sale.

If the sale isn't final, they shouldn't be contacting you. If it is final, the guy you signed the lease with is probably just doing you and them both a favor by doing the legwork.
