Paying for these folks is here to stay. Whining about it is like punching yourself in the crotch.
My question is though, how do illegal immigrants that make less than minimum wage seem to do ok? I have met so many Mexican illegals, that make minimum wage or less than that and are doing much better and more independent than people who are on welfare. A big part of it is family. They know how to support each other and are resourceful.

Many of those on welfare tend can be pretty entitled. We have no one to blame for ourselves because we have let it get out of control.

Do you actually believe that if we got rid of welfare your taxes would go down?

Of course they wouldn't. But, it really is obnoxious how entitled some of the people quoted in that Tribune article are. I can see why it rubs the OP the wrong way because it bugs me too. If you can't be bothered to work or pay for your own place to live then I don't think you really have any right to be complaining about where you end up.

No, there isn't always McDonalds. It may surprise you, but there are plenty of people who are simply unemployable for a wide variety of reasons.

Then they become employable. McDonalds pretty much hires anyone.

That's what bugged me too, it's bad enough they are long time parasites but the entitlement bothered me, especially when it mentioned the woman had a big screen tv.
